The surah al ikhlas comes in the 30th parah of the Holy Quran and it declares Allah’s oneness, Tauheed, and purity. The 112th surah found in the Holy Quran is named Surah ikhlas, the meaning of surah ikhlas is purity, and refining, and in this surah the clear definition is stated that Allah is one. 

Surah Ikhlas definition?

In Allah’s manuscript, the 112th Surah ikhlas (Makki Surah) meaning is purity, isolation, and sincerity. It signifies our pious motives and intentions toward acceptance from Allah. 

The 4 ayats (verses) surah declaration of Tawheed. All of these ayah sum up to bring the essence of Islam. It is said in surah ikhlas that Allah is one and he is incomparable with anyone. 

Say, “He is Allah, (the) One. Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.” (Quran 112)

The revelation of this surah ikhlas happens in the early days of Islam. This surah was revealed on our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAW when the polytheist pagan of Macca once asked the prophet Saw and said; give us the genealogy of your God. Allah revealed this scripture with straight orders in the 112 chapter of the Quran Majeed. 

13 Benefits of surah ikhlas

In the light of Islam, there are hidden treasures that are present in the holy Quran. Allah has given us messages, instructions, and guidelines from our beloved Holy Prophet SAW. Allah’s scripture is informing and warning Muslims. Likewise, the 112th surah ikhlas benefits all Muslims. Whoever recites it will get numerous rewards in life and hereafter. The benefits are explained below. 

Even though this is the shortest surah in the Quran Hazrat Muhammad SAW said:” I swear By ALLAH, this surah is equal to one-third of the Holy Quran”. 

Do you understand the meaning of this hadith? It doesn’t mean that you will recite it 3 times, you don’t need to read the rest of the Quran. No. explicitly, it gave meaning in terms of blessings and rewards, and benefits to the person who will recite it. The shortest Surah eventually gives you the benefits of 1/3rd of the Quran.  

1- Entering Paradise

Whoever recites the surah ikhlas daily will get the rewards and benefits in abundance. Reciting surah al ikhlas will make the entryway toward paradise. Allah Subhan taala will create the house in Jannah for the reciter. 

The one story indicates the importance and eternal benefits of reading surah al ikhlas. The one man laid prayer in masjid-e Quba. in rakah he used to recite the surah ikhlas and then another surah. His action people objected and brought him to the prophet SAW. the prophet asked him why is he not doing as their companions desired. On that he said, I can’t give up to recite the surah ikhlas I have a love for this. In his reply, Prophet SAw said: inform this man that the love for his surah ikhlas has earned him entry to paradise. 

2- Attaining the love of Allah

Allah will bless the person with his love who will recite the surah ikhlas. 

In Quran Al-Imran verse 3: 31 Allah says;

O prophet SAW; “if you truly love Allah then Follow me” Allah will love you and forgive all your sins. For Allah, All is forgiven, and Allah is most merciful. 

According to this Ayah, whoever will follow Allah’s pathways will get Allah’s love. And the intensity of love is infinite for the believer. He will get the Rehmat, Barkat, and blessing for both in Dunya and Akhirah. 

It is a story of a man who was sent on the expedition as a leader by our beloved prophet SAW. he used to recite Surah ikhlas in his prayer again and again. When his companions asked him about the reputation of reciting this surah al ikhlas. On that, he replied he love to recite the mercy and attributions of Allah again and again. When the messenger of Allah heard this story and said: inform him that Allah has held his love and mercy for him”. 

3- Increasing the Rizk

Surah ikhlas benefits the daily recitor in terms of his rizk. The person will get loads of Rizk in his house. 

As explained in surah Al-baqarah verse 2:247

Allah grants kingship to whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.”

Virtues of surah al ikhlas:

Abu Hurayrah reported:

The prophet heard that the person is reciting Qul Huwallahu Ahad. and he said: it is his right”. They asked O’ Messenger of Allah what is his right? He said:” that Paradise is his right”.

Sayed ibne Musayyeb reported that Hazrat Muhammad SAW said:

“Who will recite surah al ikhlas ten times. Allah will build the palace for him in paradise”.

What are the verses explaining in surah Ikhlas?

The soul of the surah ikhlas is to understand the oneness of Allah and no one God except Allah. Broadly, the meaning of the first ayah is explaining that Allah is the only one. In the second ayah, here is explaining Allah Hu Samad; which means that Allah has the fullest in attributions, without wanting and will. In the third ayah, it is saying about the birth, nor he gave birth to anyone and neither has been born by someone. Closing in the 4th verse by saying that he has no compeer. 

Surah ikhlas is explaining the existence of Allah, and we are all dependent on him, not on him. Additionally, it also signifies the shahadat, which is the 2nd pillar of Islam. There is no true dietary than Allah. As the revelation of this surah, all the polytheists and pagans got their replies and no doubt that our faith is all about accepting Allah that is one. And our worship is directed solely to Allah. He has no compeer, helper, or partner in creation.
